GENDER STEREOTYPING AND WORK

Definition of the problem:

Historically, women were not equal to men at work, had lower status and were not allowed to perform in all occupations. Despite the fact that Western society has long ago accepted gender equality, even today men and especially women face sexual stereotypes in the workplace. Stereotypes are simplified and generalized cognitive judgments about other people, social situations and ourselves (Ule, 2005). Gender stereotypes make it difficult to work, discriminate against a person and provide less opportunity to enter the profession.
