TITLE: Problem of coordinating work and private life of   an employee in company X

DEFINITION:

Nowadays the pace of life is too fast. Many people are not able to do all the things that they are supposed to. Every individual organizes  their time according to their priorities. These priorities depend on individual's values, norms, views  and their social enviroment

Some companies in Slovenia aspire exclusively to maximaze their profit. To achieve that they disregard their employees'  wishes and needs. In order to adapt to the needs of the company and the top managment employees struggle in their private life and are unable to balance it with work.

Requests of the employees are often ignored which leads to stress and dissatifaction in the work place. Because of that they are less productive and this is reflected in their resistance.

Minutes of the 1st meeting, PBL
held on 24th of February, ODKJG at FDV

Present: Mirela, Luka, Tamara, Tjaša
Absent: Sanela

Agenda:

1. Selection of the group name
2. Selection of the term for the weekly meetings
3. Role distribution

Item 1:

During our discussion  brainstorm suggestions like "Talisman", "Koala", "600 EU gross", "Trske" were discarded, mostly due to the fact of being completely ridiculous. We then finally decided on "Dream Catchers" which everyone seemed to agree on.

Item 2:

There was only one suggestion on the term for the weekly meetings. The term would be Mondays at roughly 9 o/clock in the FDV library.

Item 3:

We voted for the position of president of the group. However, since there was one of the members missing, the voting could not be done properly. Nevertheless, we still managed to propose and vote out Sanela 4-0 and I (Luka) took on the task of minutes taker.

Minutes of the 2nd meeting

PBL held on 24th of February, ODKJG at FDV

Present: Luka, Mirela, Tamara, Sanela, Tjaša

Absent: /

Agenda:

1: division of roles

2: selecting the  topic

3: defining the  problem

4: literature list

5: research questions

All assignments from the previous meeting have been carried out, that was to bring a list of literature to the meeting and to think about the research questions.

item 1:

Since we have already voted out the president there were four roles left to be divided. I (Luka) became the secretary,   the progress chaser is Mirela, the  time keeper is Tjaša and the reserve is reserved for Tamara.

item 2:

The topic selected was "Coordiantion of work and free/family time".

item 3:

We had many problems with the definition of the problem. We did not  know what to focus on.

Discussion:

Mirela suggested that we focus on the incapability of people to organize their time out of work. The main problem was that we did not know what aspect of the problem we should be dealing with. Some people work overtime to aquire more resources than they need and some have no choice if they want to make ends meet. There were also some thaughts about our fast lifestyle being the one catalyst that makes coordioation of work and free time so difficult. The topic is just so broad and there are so many variables that we could not decide what to focus on just yet.

Decision:

We decided just to do a little  introduction and think it over and generate a few ideas until Friday.

item 4:

We decided that everyone should post 3 items of literature that they think are the most compelling.

item 5:

Every member had to produce two research questions. They are posted above.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, 7th of March 2011, at 12 o'clock.

Minutes of the 3rd meeting PBL

held on 7th of March, ODKJG at FDV

Present: Mirela, Tamara, Sanela; Luka

Absent: Tjaša

Agenda:

-  Finishing the definition of the problem

- Distributing the tasks

- Any other business

Item 1:

After seeing what we were doing wrong with the original definition we narrowed down the problem to consequences of companies trying to maxinize their profits. And since Sanela offered to take us to the company she works in, we decided to conduct our research there. When defining the problem we were focusing on key words such as profit, dissatisfaction, stress, priorities etc.

Item 2:

We did not distribute all the tasks yet. We made a layout of the seminar assignment and fitted in all the components. We still have a problem with the questions because there are eleven of them and we are not sure if we will be able to get a comprehansive anwser to all of them.

Item 3:

We have resized the picture to a proper size.
