SEXUAL VALUES AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE AT THE TURN OF MILLENIUM
Sexual detabooisation and its role in collegial relationship

Definition:

Definition of the problem: Sexual values changes influence on social interractions and sexual behaviour of the young poeple. No obligated sexual interractions (we will use the term "friendship with benefits") become more common and are not a taboo any more. They usually appear within narrow social networks (friends, colleagues). Sex among young people has become a spare time activity (regarding Bernik and Hlebec analyse report) and has lost its sentiment component  because of liberal thinking about sexuality.

The problem of changed values is that society is becoming more detabooised and opened for liberalisation of intimacy. Therefore relationships "without obligations" are becoming more common. We wish to find out what is the border line between intimate and public.

Research questions:

1. We wish to define the social networks (intimate, platonic, social and friendly).

2. Our interest is in the interactions in the social network (emotional, ambivalent) and their frequency (daily, weakly, monthly)

3.  We are interested in the sexual values of the younger generations, the frequency of "friends with benefits", and the reasons behind them.

4.  Are there differences between values in general and sexuality as a value?

5.  What is the social view on sex?

6.    Is sex among teens losing the label of taboo and is becoming a spear time activity?

7.   Are social interractions that cause sexual relations becoming more common?

8. How high is sexuality placed as a value?

Present: Katja Hriberšek, Jasna Vidic, Gregor Selčan, Katja Sajovic, Martina Vohar

Absent: /

Agenda

1. Discussing the topic

2. Define problem

3. Researching questions and hypothesis

4. Assignments

5. Other prepositons

Item 1

Members discussed about few prepositions regarding actual problems among young people and their society building different social interactions. At last we decided and focused on liberalization of sexual behavior among young people. Following researching topic has been found after thorough discussion: SEXUAL VALUES AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE ON MILLENIUM PASSAGE.

All present were in favor of stated motion.

Item 2

After discussion members agreed about following problem definition:

»Sexual values changes influences on social interractions and sexual behaviour of the young poeple. No obligated sexual interractions (we will use the term "friendship with benefits") become more common and are not a taboo any more. They usualy apear within narrow social networks (friends, colleagues). Sex among young people has become a spare time activity (regarding Bernik and Hlebec analyse report) and has lost its sentiment component  because of liberal thinking about sexuality.«

All present were in favor of stated motion.

Item 3

There were few obstacles at defining different researching questions and hypothesis. Main obstacle based on different interpretation of »changes of young people values«. Some members emphasized that values changes comparison thru time is not best solution and it demands too much time. Nevertheless there is also a lack of secondary data direct access. After break and long discussion members agreed with research questions.

Item 4

Specific assigments should be distributed on next meeting.

Item 5

E-meetings are not satisfactory and will be abandoned due to lack of communications skills. Next meeting will take place »face to face« next Thursday at 16.00.

All present were in favor of stated motion.
