 Title:

  • Legislation and crisis managment - undeclared work in Slovenia

Defintion:

We are going to present problem of undeclared work in Slovenia. We would like to see how big problem is that in European Union. We will describe what laws and directives are in European Union and in Slovenia. We will describe reasons why it comes to undeclared work and we will give one real-life example of undeclared work.

"Undeclared work is one of the issues of common concern in the employment field. The concept of “undeclared work” is taken to mean any paid activities that are lawful as regards their nature but not declared to the public authorities, bearing in mind differences in the regulatory system of Member States. Applying this definition, criminal activities would be excluded, as would work which does not have to be declared." (European Commission, 2007)

Minutes of the meeting:

Minutes of the first meeting »PBL project«

Held on 27th February, 2009 at The FDV library

Present: Sanel, Sandi, Matic, Primož

Agenda

1. Discussing the topic

2. Defining the problem

3. Defining assignments

4. Any other business

First item

Professor Ignjatović had published the list of possible topics for our assignment on spletni referat. After brief skimming of the list we had narrowed the list to few candidates. We used COBISS to determine which one has more available literature and decided to go with Legislation and crisis management with the emphasis on undeclared work.

Second item

We had no problem defining the topic as it is well known and has good media coverage and has been discussed in academic literature.

Third item

As we had yet to recieve confirmation from Ignjatovič, we decided not to assign any specific tasks at the present time.

Fourth item

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 5 March 2009, at 6 p.m. via Internet (MSN or IRC).
