DISCRIMINATION OF HOMOSEXUALS WITHIN THEIR WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Glossary:

- Innate bisexuality- prirojena biseksualnost.

 - Heterosexualization of the street: preformanca za katero je značilno močno nesprejemanje homoseksualcev, fizično in verbalno nasilje, najbolj prevladuje v heteroseksualnih moških.

RESEARCH PROBLEM AND ITS DEFINITION:

Homosexuality is a fenomena, which is still a problem when it comes to conforming it into our mindes and lives. Sexual orientation can be an important factor in peoples job resume and so a low level of tolerance towards homosexuality can be an important factor at the enablement of equal chances between heterosexual and homosexual job candidates, which shows the discrimination of homosexuals within working environment. Prejudices against homosexuals can be different between highly educated people in cities and less educated rural residents. And so the factor of homosexuality, the factor of different proffesions and the factor of high or low education can influence on behaviour of co-workers and other people in their workplace differently, causing a stigmatization of homosexuals, so that they start to hide their sexual orientation because they feel excluded and different (in the negative sense) from the possible or already existing work group because of it.

RESEARCH QUESTION:

Does the discrimination of homosexuals within their working environments depends (or dIfferentiates) from the kind of profession that they do?

WORKING QUESTIONS:

1. How does the heterosexual norm influence the employment of homosexual partners and how common is it? Do we even recognise it? (Petra)

2. Are conversations between co-workers a reason for finding about their sexual identety and does it affect relations between co-workers? (Petra)

3. How many of homosexuals do actually reveal their orientation? (Nataša)

4. How does homosexual oppression change through history? (Sabina)

5. A comparison of homophobia in the workplace in different European countries. (Neža)

6. To what forms of homophobia are homosexuals exposed? (Erika)

7. What are the stereotypes against homosexuals? (Erika)

8. On the fear of homophobic violence. (Sabina)

9. Is there a connection between the job and the attitude towards homosexuals? (Nataša)

10. What are the actions employers can take againts homophobic discrimination? (Neža)
