Stress and learning process among students of the Faculty of Social Sciences – FDV

 

 

 

Definition:

STRESS is a body's way of responding to different situations, which upset us. Today it's impossible to live without stress and because of that we decide to title of our PBL project »Stress and learning process (among students of Faculty of social sciences – FDV). Our goal is to research causes and consequences of stress, to find out in what ways stress influence on students of Faculty of social sciences and also investigate the methods, which are use among students to prevent from stress. In our examination 69% of students fell negative stress.

 

 

Research question:

How does stress affect students' lives and, more specifically, their learning process?

1. In which ways does stress affect students?

2. How can students avoid or manage stress?

3. Which are the most common ways of coping with stress among students?

4. Which are the most popular techniques to avoid stress?

5. Which study years are the most stressful? Do students in higher years of study feel more stress than those who are at the beginning of their university study?

6. Which university system is more stressful: the Bolognian or the one which was carried out before?

7. Life without stress, dreams or reality?

8. What is the function of stress?

9. Which organizations or institutions or people students should contact? Where can students find help?

10. What kind of impact has stress onsecondary school child student's social life?

Item 1:

After a short discussion the topic was selected. Petra suggested topic about stress, Maja and Martina suggested topic about tattooing. We all decided and came to common agreement that stress would be the topic of our seminar.  

 

The discussion:

Firstly all of us had a few suggestions about topic, then we discussed which topic could be the most interesting and useful for us and our schoolmates, then we chose the topic about stress. Afterwards we divided tasks.

 

 

Assignments:

All members of this meeting had to (22st February 2008) write 1 primary question and 10 working questions till Friday. Then 10 questions were selected by all members of our group.

We checked our last weeks assignments, and came to conclusion that we completed our tasks on time, yet there have been founded certain mistakes, and we all agreed that we will improve in: better defining of problem, adding an example and correcting last week’s grammatical mistakes.  

 

Item 2:

We discussed what needed to be done till Saturday (1st March 2008), we talked about the definition and chose students of the Faculty of Social Sciences for frame of population. All of us actively participated in discussion.

 

Item 3:  

 We distributed the following tasks:

      -          Finding source of ‘Jaffa-cookies’ picture and correction of last week’s mistakes - Maja

      -          Finding resources (books, reference, etc.) - Pia

      -          To improve definition of the main problem - Martina
