Violence Against Women in Slovenia

Problem:

Violence against women is becoming a serious problem in today's societies. It can be physical, mental, verbal, sexual or economic. It could be said that with the foundation of "Društvo SOS" and extensive media project about violence against women "Kaj ti je, deklica" victims look for an advice through free telephone help line. Organizations which report about a huge number of such calls. But people are actually not aware how serious this problem is because violence happens behind the doors, victims are not prepared to talk openly about their problem because of fear and distrust.

Therefore we are going to find out what sort of help is there for these women. We will see what organisations exist and what sort of aim they try to reach. We wil try to find out whether those who work in such organizations feel that violence against women results from unequal division of power between gender in society.
