Sexual harassment and unwanted attention in the sphere of work: waiter, waitress

Definition:

Someone`s sex can be seen as an important predictor of their abilities, interests and behavior. Sexual harassment is a form of gender discrimination. The most frequent form of discrimination of women is excessive or unwanted attention in the workplace. Women who are more attractive frequently get better jobs. A big problem in the sphere of work is that some men treat women unprofessionally and unfairly on the basis of their appearance. According to the survey by the Slovenian Public Opinion in 2008, within the International Social Survey 2008, harassment is present in the form of unwanted attention of sexual nature in the Slovenian sphere of work and labour. From 814 respondents there were 37 males and 47 females who had already been victims of unwanted attention of sexual nature at their  workplace. Most people who had suffered that kind of attention were under the age of 30 (Source: Slovenian Public Opinion 2008).
