Definition:

The social institution of family is one of the most important ones for the socialization and development of an individual. Even

though societies have changed through time and so has the family, same sex families still do not have the same rights and obligations

as mixed sex families. Slovenia is about to adopt a new family law but on the other hand it is still quite conservative towards homosexuality

being a life style.

MINUTES OF THE FIRST MEETING

(held on 10th March, 2010 at FDV library)

Present: Nastja, Dolores, Karina

Absent: Ivan, Kaja

Agenda:

  1. Discussing and selecting the topic
  2. Any other business

Item 1:

Discussion: Despite the absence of 2 of our group members we selected the topic quite democratically. Ivan and Kaja gave their

suggestions in advance. Nastja, Dolores and Karina then discussed all the topic ideas and it turned out that 3 out of 5 members suggested

the same topic.

Decision: After thoroughly thinking it through we set on Same sex families. We think homosexuality is very connected with identity and

is in fact one of the major identities of a lot of individuals. After the proposition of the new family law in Slovenia and after hearing

the public debate around it we think the topic is very much important and worth researching.

Item 2:

Discussion: During the meeting we realized that it is going to be very hard for the group to meet after class because we all have different

timetables and Nastja and Karina work almost everyday after school.

Decision: We have decided that we will have our meetings on Wednesdays before class. Until our next meeting everyone should

try to find as much literature concerning our topic as possible.

Minutes taker: Karina

Chair: Karina

MINUTES OF THE SECOND MEETING

(held on 17th March, 2010 at Šumi)

Present: Dolores, Kaja, Nastja, Karina

Absent: Ivan

Agenda:

  1. Discussing and selecting working questions
  2. Discussing and selecting research questions
  3. Contributing tasks concerning literature
  4. Any other business

Item 1:

Discussion: Firstly we had to think of what areas of same sex families we are really interested in and want to include in our web presentation.

It seemed logical to first select the working questions which will then help us with our research question. Dolores suggested we should include

the political aspect of the problem, Kaja then continued in the same direction and was wondering how did different politicians react to the

proposal of the new family law. Nastja and Karina were more interested in the family itself, Nastja suggested that we include social parenting in our

research and Karina was really interested in what the children that grew up in same sex families have to say about the issue.

Decision: After going through all the suggestions we selected the 11 working questions posted above.

Item 2:

Discussion: As we had already put down the 11 research questions we did not feel the need to have a research question as well. We think the

research questions define our research enough.

Decision: We will use the research questions as the main guidelines to our research.

Item 3:

Discussion: As it can be seen above everyone had different ideas of what to include in our research questions. To distribute the work fairly we have

decided everyone should do what they are most interested in.

Decision: We decided that everyone should take on the questions they have suggested themselves. As Ivan was not present at the meeting he

has gotten the 2 questions that were left.

Item 4:

Decision: We decided that we will meet again in one week, that is next Wednesday before class at the same time and place. Until next time

everyone should read some literature concerning their field of research and report on it at the next meeting.

Minutes taker: Karina

Chair: Karina

MINUTES OF THE THIRD MEETING

(held on 24th March, 2010 at FDV library)

 Present: Dolores, Karina, Ivan, Kaja

Absent: Nastja

Agenda:

  1. Distribution of working questions
  2. Any other business

Item 1:

Discussion: At the previous meeting we decided what our research questions are. This week we had to distribute the questions among ourselves.

Even though Nastja was absent we did not have trouble fixing her with two questions because she had already expressed her wishes at the previous

meeting. The rest of us also set on the questions democratically, everyone got the ones he/she is most interested in researching.

Decision: We distributed the working questions as it is written above (under Working questions).

Item 2:

Discussion: After we have distributed the work that needs to be done we talked about report writing.

Decision: We decided that we will have our next meeting on Tuesday after class. Until then everyone should write what we have agreed on so that we

can slowly start to shape a report and that we still have enough time to improve it as much as we can.
