Hello everyone!

Our group consists of 6 members. Each member has its own responsibilities according to their role/status in our group of hard-working but still friendly people.

1. WORKING TITLE:  

 

 

Employment of disabled people

 

 

2. DEFINITION:

 

 

Disabled people face several problems when looking for work. To increase their employment possibilities, they are  affiliated in various qualification programs, both theoretical and practical. The main purpose is to work on abilities and knowledge that disabled people have instead on focusing on their deficiency.  

WHAT we are going to write in our report! and how we will tackle this problem - like woth literature and interviewing disabled people... In our report we will try to identify common ground among disabled people who encounter barriers relating to employment.  We are interested in the experiences of anyone with either a history of a physical or sensory impairment or a particular medical condition who encounters barriers or discrimination in obtaining employment or staying in work. An example: the problem is 70% of disabled people can not find work (npr) Our group would like to research special group of disabled people and the problem is ...

2. Do they face discrimination? If they do, why, where, when?

3. How does society look at work of disabled people?

4. What  are the conditions at work?

5. How do they handle relationships with co-workers and superiors?

7. What  are the options for working at home if they can not leave their house?

8. How does the Slovenian government tackle this problem?

9. How does the EU deal with this problem?

10. What are the employer's benefits when they recruit a disabled person?

The next item was a distribution of assignments for the following week. The deadline is Sunday 8 March 2009.

Discussion: We had to define our problem and a basic question we wanted to research. We all had some ideas but we still left it open for further discussion.

Decision: We will finish the given timetable tasks in the following week so we could discuss the report tasks at the next meeting.

Item 1:

  

We completed all the previous tasks on PBL Wiki although past our deadline. Most importantly, today was the deadline for finishing our glossary. Until further notice we will work on finishing any other unfinished tasks given in Timetable for PBL Project  and if needed, we will make some adjustments on our report for English course class.

  

Item 2:

  

Discussion: We discussed the glossary which was the task of the previous week. Each gave a few examples of the words, all regarding our topic “Employment of disabled people” and we composed our glossary. This is only an elementary version which we will try to improve later on.

 

The next meeting will be held on Friday, 3 April, via MSN Messenger.
