Discussion of issues
Leon and Uroš discused which issue would be the most interesting for our group. There were many proposals. Leon suggested that we could discuse Star Wars movies and the posibilities of more films being made by George Lucas. Then Uroš replied that the Star Wars theme wouldn't be very apropriate for Social Informatics. And that is why we decided for an issue more suitable for our studies. With the power of the Jedi we came to a brilliant idea that the most suitable issue would be EU SECURITY. |
TITLE: EU Security and conflicts - Croatian fishing zone
Problem definition
Nowadays the European Union (EU) is confronted by many different threats and problems which come from the inside and the outside. Beacuse of this the security policy is more and more important. The problems that the EU security is related to are terrorist threats, illegal migrations, conflict zones and spreading of weapons of mass distruction.
The nations within the EU do not have the same views about the common security policy. They do not react the same to different problems such as the conflict zones or illegal migrations.
We had to decide for one specific problem and the one that seemed the most intriguing to us was the so called ZERP (commonly known as Croatian fishing zone).
Research questions:
1. What is the purpuse of ZERP?
2. How did Slovenia react to ZERP?
3. How did EU react to ZERP?
4. Should Slovenia block Croatia from joining the EU
5. What are the problems ZERP could cause for Slovenia
6. What is our foreign policy doing in order to solve this problem?
7. What is Italian policy doing in order to solve this problem?
8. Different views about ZERP inside Croatia.
9. What convinced Croatia to stop enforcing ZERP?
10. The current situation with ZERP. (Who is currently affected by ZERP)
