DRUGS IN OUR EVERYDAY LIFE

Drugs are more and more present in our society, especially among young people, because drugs can nowadays easily be bought around every corner. There are multiple reasons for using drugs, for example out of boredom, curiosity or fun, one of the main reasons can also be problems in everyday life.

The constantly changing life-style causes stress, personal and professional problems, life is becoming chaotical, distracted and in many cases this results in using drugs. But this is not the final or main problem, this is just the tip of the iceberg - because many people who already did come clean, due to the course of rehab, start using drugs again because they cannot foundate their life without drugs.

We will focus on reasons for using drugs, relationship between drug user and other people (family, friends, society) and the course of rehab and its efficiency. Further on we will present heroin user, make an interview with him, then present our findings and offer possible solution.

10 research questions:

1. How common is using drugs in Slovenia?

2. In which circumstances people mostly start using drugs?

3. Which are the main reasons for using drugs?

4. In which population is drug abuse most present?

5. How people (family, friends, society) treat drug abusers?

6. Where are drug users buying drugs and how accessible are they?

7. Which drug is most popular in Slovenia?

8. How the course of treatment / rehab is running?

9. How many previous users are getting back on the same track after being in rehab?

10. How can we effectively help such people to cut the magic circle of addiction?

Absent: /

Agenda:

1. Action-item follow up

2. Distribution of tasks

3. Any other business

Item 1:

Key point of our meeting is finding a topic for our project. Kity suggested that our project would be joined with “Sociology of every day life” class. Kaja proposed that our topic could be alcoholism because it is so common in everyday life. Tina suggested that our theme could be anorexia. Mojca suggested that our real-life problem would be how to prevent using drugs in every day life. Maja recommended that we could have an interview with a former drug user. We also talked about animals in shelters.

Item 2:

Discussion:

We had a discussion about all propositions. We commonly rejected the topic about alcoholism, anorexia and animals in shelters. We accepted theme about drug-users problem. For additional changes we will consult with prof. Rener so we will see how our topic will collide with her suggestions because till today she has not decided anything / she is not familiar with our project.

Decision:

Our theme will be '' Drugs in everyday life''. We accepted reluctantly proposal for an interview. But we will  know more when prof. Rener will tell us her point of view and when we will find and study literature.

Assignments:

Tina will search for internet sources about our topic.

Kity will search for literature in library.
