YOUTH EMPLOYMENT DIRECTLY AFTER COLLEGE

DEFINITION

Employing young people is a very important issue because they are the ones who will work and live in our future society. The unemployment rate of those who have finished their undergraduate studies is very high in Slovenia and also in most countries in the EU. Some of them decide to prolong their study only because it is almost impossible to find a first job without any real experience. We will focus on how difficult it really is to find a job directly after the completion of studies.

WORKING QUESTIONS:

1. Do young people have trouble finding their first job without any experience? (Petra)

2. Which options do young people choose because of the economic crisis? Do they study longer? (Slađana)

3. Are young people thinking of self-employment? (Nina Č.)

4. Do young people think that the university programs should include teaching more useful skills? (Nina P.)

5. What are those skills? (Nina P.)

6. Do they know the so-called "career fairs"? (Petra)

7. What do employees need from young people? (Slađana)

8. Do they hire candidates without experience? (Nina Č.)

DISTRIBUTION OF TASKS:

We all sent out our questionnaires to several students who will be looking for a job in a few years time, and to a few companies. When we get the answers back, Nina Pakiž will analyse them, draw some conclusions out of them and write the conclusion. Slađana Kuprešak will write the introduction and Nina Čebela will format our research report. Petra Psarn will look at the literature and take care of quotations. We will all read our literature and then write the main body of the text.
