Discussion of issues
Issue 1: PBL problem
We discussed about our PBL topic and decided for:
Decision 1: People's views on alternative medicine: homeopathy and acupuncture
Issue 2: Redefining our PBL problem
Much has been said on how our politicians, Drnovšek and Peterle, have turned to alternative ways of treatment. This is why our team finds researching how people view alternative medicine interesting. The main data, which will be used for our analysis, will be gathered via interviewing. This research method will help us understand, why people opt for alternative methods of treatment instead of methods, used in western medicine.
After consulting with prof. Tivadar our team came to the conclusion, that our pbl problem is already too refined. Thus we decided to change our PBL problem to:
Decision 2: People's views on alternative medicine
PEOPLE'S VIEWS ON ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE
Paragraph:
In Slovenia we hear about people who experienced alternative treatment on a daily basis. Some view it as a positive experience, others have the opposite view. And we are interested in the view of alternative medicine by people who had this treatment. We are also interested in a series of aspects which are included in the question of alternative medicine: from circumstances in which people decided for alternative medicine to the individual characteristics, success and satisfaction of each treatment.
Research questions:
1. What attitude do people have towards alternative medicine?
2. In what kind of circumstances people decided for alternative medicine?
3. What expectations did people have before the treatment?
4. In what extent did these expectations realized?
5. What methods of alternative treatment did they use?
6. How did they experience alternative treatment compared with formal medicine?
7. How did they experience the relation of the healer compared with the relation of the doctor?
8. How long did the treatment - compared with the formal medicine treatment - take time?
9. Is the alternative treatment in relation to their usual way of life or is this just the way of treatment that does not essentially change their everyday life?
10. Would people - in case of disease - decide for alternative way of treatment once again?

All assignments already completed :-) You only need to specify which 2 questions are Esad's and which 8 will be done by the rest of the team.

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know that you don't need to consider my yesterday's suggestions regarding the refinement of your PBL problem since you'd already agreed on that with prof. Tivadar. Please, follow her instructions.
However, don't forget to post the elaborated version of the problem in your page.
Hope to read you soon!

Spoštovane kolegice in spoštovani kolega,
Lep pozdrav,
Blanka Tivadar
