MOBBING:

Consent and resistance as strategies for survival

Definition:

We live in a modern world where the rhythm of life is getting faster and faster. The consequence of that is more stressful life specially at work where people spend most of their time. One of the causes of stress in the workplace is mobbing which can be defined as psychoterror at work. It is believed to have negative consequences for the employers and employees. For instance in the year 2000 in the EU there were 9% victims of mobbing, that is about 12 million people. (Drobnič, Aleš (2006): POJAV in PRAKTIČNI prikaz MOBBINGA (od sivih las, do živčnega zloma do bognedaj samomora), Kaj je to mobbing; Od šikaniranja, onemogočanja, do mobbinga. MOBBING v Sloveniji; http://www.mobbing.si/univerza/mobbing.html; 6.11.2007)

Questions:

1)  When can we start using the word mobbing?

2)  What is mobbing?

3)  Who are the victims?

4)  How can we help the victims of mobbing?

5)  What are the phases of mobbing?

6)  What are the consequences of mobbing for employers and employees?

7)  How can we compare Slovenia to other members of the EU?

8)  What are the causes of mobbing?

9) How does the law protect victims of mobbing?

Distribution of tasks:

Tanja will be answering the questions one and two. She will also make the questionary in a firm.

Špela will be answering the questions four and five. She will also make the questionary in a firm.

Dijana will be answering the questions three and nine.

Elena will be answering the question six.

Adela will be answering the questions seven and eight.
