ILLEGAL DUMPS IN SLOVENIA

 

 


                                           

Definition: Illegal dumping is a major problem in many countries throughout Slovenia. According to the U.S. Envirnoment Protection Agency it raises significant concerns regarding public health and safety, property values and quality life (U.S. EPA, 2010). There are around 13000 located illegal dumps in Slovenia, but they assume there are between 30000 and 40000 illegal dumps (Hreščak, 2010).

Item 1:

We started with suggestions for our group name. We all agreed that Nina proposed the  most suitable name for our group,  The Sky Is the Limit.  

 

Item 2:

Discussion: We only distributed the tasks which were needed for our first meeting. We all agreed that our chairperson is going to be Kaja and the minutes taker Sara.

Decision: We all agreed that our chairperson is going to be Kaja and the minutes taker Sara and that we would distribute other tasks in the next meeting.

 

Item 3:

We talked about the rules in our group and when we are going to have our next meeting.

 

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 2 March, 2011 at 2 PM at FDV.

Item 1:

Discussion: We started our meeting with distribution of tasks. 

Decision: We all agreed that the leader is going to be Kaja, because she totally suits to this role; Mojca is going to be secretary, Sara is progress chaser, Nina is minutes taker and Zala is reserve person.

 

Item 2:

Discussion: We were discussing about our topic and after many suggestions Sara proposed that we could research the problem of illegal dumping. We all agreed because this topic is relavant for this time, where we are daily occupied with articles about dumps and dumping and its impact on the environment and people.

Decision: We decided that the illegal dumping is going to be our major research problem.

 

Item 3:

Discussion: At first every one of us looked for the literature and after listing all of it, we decided for the most suitable one. Then we were proposing ways of defining the problem, and we all created the definition which is written in the top of this page.

 

Item 4:

After briefing the literature Kaja suggested that each one of us propose two questions related to our problem and we all agreed. Kaja proposed first and second question, Nina did the third and fourth, Sara the fifth and sixth, Mojca seventh and eighth and Zala two last ones. The questions are listed at the begining of our project work.

 

Item 5:

After looking the literature, we simultaneously decided which is the most suitable for our topic. 

 

 

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 9 March, 2011 at 2 PM at FDV library.

Item 1:

Discussion: Beacuse Zala was absent, we discussed that Nina should take Zala's task and that Kaja takes Nina's role as minute taker.

Decision: We all agreed that Nina takes Zala's role as reserve person and Kaja should be minute taker of our third meeting. Other members (Sara and Mojca), kept their roles. 

 

Item 2:

Discussion: During our 2nd meeting, we had already written down the research questions. On this meeting we decided that everyone of us will do the question which she proposed.

Decision: We decided that everyone of us will do the question which she proposed. Kaja will do the first and second question, Nina will do the third and fourth, Sara the fifth and sixth, Mojca the seventh and eigth and Zala will do the two last ones.

 

Item 3:

Discussion: After our discussion, we decided that Nina is going to write  down the list of literature.

 

The next meeting will be on Thursday, 17th of March, at FDV.

Item 1:

Discussion: We began our meeting with a discussion about the distribution of the tasks. Mojca proposed that she will be minute taker. Because of that, Sara proposed that she would take over Mojca's role as secretary. Other members are going to keep their roles. Kaja's role is leader. Nina's roll will be reserve person and Zala will be a progress chaser.

Decision: We decided that Mojca will be minute taker, Sara will be secretary. Kaja kept her role as eader. Nina took Zala's role as reserve person and Zala took a Sara's role as a progress chaser.

 

Item 2: 

Discussion: We discussed about the key words about our research problem. Sara had written down some words at home. Nina, Zala and Kaja explored other words which are important for our problem ( Illegal dumping in Slovenia).

Dicision: We decided that we will write down a glossary with ten key words which are written on the top of our page. We will translate the words into Slovene language together, using dictionary.

 

Item 3:

Discussion: During the meeting we came up with idea that we should do the interview with someone who is an expert on our theme. Sara said that she knows someone who deals with this and she will contact him.

 

The next meeting will be a Thursday, 24th of March, 2011 at FDV.
