Changes in legislative rights for homosexuals in Slovenia
Definition
Throughout history homosexuals have been discriminated against by the hegemonic heterosexual society. Until the 20th century, when modern LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual) rights movements started, homosexual acts were called sodomy and considered to be a capital crime. After homosexual behaviour was decriminalised and same-sex couples gradually gained some social and legal recognition, homosexuals still were not fully recognised as equal citizens. Even in today's Slovene society homosexuals do not have the same rights as heterosexuals, for example they are denied the right to marriage and adoption.

Minutes of the 1st group meeting
Held on February 26th at FDV
Present: Danaja, Pia, Sebastian
Absent: Matevž (communicating with him via phone and email)
Agenda:
1. Discussion about the topic
2. Forming the title
3. Defining the problem
4. Any other business
Item 1
Discussion: The suggested topics were rights of people without papers ("sans papiers" in France, “the erased” in Slovenia, “kanak attak” in Germany) that are violated by the state, expanding human rights on animals, human rights and globalisation, LGBT rights …
Decision: We agreed to choose the legislative rights for homosexuals (LGBT rights).
Item 2
Decision: We agreed that the title should be Changes in legislative rights for homosexuals. The word legislative was added due to the fact that we will mainly focus on formal changes (in the 20th and 21st century) in rights for LGBT.
Item 3
Assignments: Since we did not specifically define the problem at the meeting, it was suggested that this should be done by email. Everyone will send their definition and the leader (Pia) will form the adequate and final version.
Item 4
1) Discussion: There were some ideas about the literature, distribution of the tasks etc.
2) Decision: Sebastian suggested to contact a German LGBT rights activist that currently lives in Ljubljana.
3) Decision: The next meeting will be held on 3rd of March at FDV.
Minutes taker: Danaja
Chair: Pia
Minutes of the 2nd group meeting
Held on March 3rd 2009 at FDV

Agenda:
1. Topic and definition discussion
2. Forming/discussing research questions
3. Selecting literature

Item 1
Decision: Since we figured that there are very few differences regarding LGBT rights between Slovenia and Germany, we changed the topic (consequently the title), removing the comparison between the countries and focusing only on changes (in LGBT movements, legislation etc.) in Slovenia. We also decided to improve our definition so that the problem is more apparent.
Item 2
Assignments: We decided that everyone should write approximately 2 questions referring to their subtopic. We roughly distributed the work so that everyone can focus on their field. Therefore the questions were not formulated at the meeting.
Item 3
Assignments: We agreed that everyone should look for possible literature that is relevant to their research questions.
Item 4
1) Discussion: Sebastian had arranged a meeting with a German LGBT rights activist and we discussed what he should focus on in the interview.
2) Decision: The next meeting will be held on 10th of March at FDV.

Chair: Pia
